Battle of Adrianople (1205)

The Battle of Adrianople which was fought between the Bulgarians under Tsar Kaloyan and forces of the Latin Empire under leadership of Baldwin I, the first emperor of the Latin Empire, Louis of Blois and Enrico Dandolo, Doge of Venice took place on April 14,1205. The Bulgarians in alliance with the Cumans and Byzantines decisively defeated the forces of the Latin Empire, killed Louis of Blois and captured Baldwin I who died in Bulgarian captivity.
