Battle of Muhldorf (1322)

The Battle of Muhldorf was fought between the forces of Louis IV of Bavaria and of Frederick the Handsome, Duke of Austria on September 28, 1322. Louis IV of Bavaria decisively defeated and captured his rival king Frederick the Handsome. Thus the rivalry for the German throne which lasted from 1314 when both Louis IV of Bavaria and Frederick the Handsome were elected and crowned kings ended in favor of Louis who became the first of the Wittelsbach line of German emperors.
