Battle of Sempach (1386)

Battle of Sempach was fought between Leopold III, Duke of Austria and the Swiss Confederacy on July 9, 1386. The Swiss confederate forces decisively defeated the Austrian army despite being greatly outnumbered. Duke Leopold III has been killed in the battle. Battle of Sempach has shown that a well-equipped infantry can defeat heavy chivalry on the open field as well.
