Battle of Wakefield (1460)

The Battle of Wakefield was one of the most important battles of the Wars of the Roses fought between the royal forces of Margaret of Anjou and York forces led by Richard, 3rd Duke of York on December 30, 1460. The Lancastrian forces managed to defeat Richard who was killed in the battle leaving his eldest son Edward as the Yorkist claimant to the throne.
